Investing in the Rapidly Growing Sector Surrounding the ECS

Pharmaceutical research into the chemicals found in cannabis has so far supplied only one licensed medicine. But scientists think there could be hundreds more.

  • Endocannabinoid receptors are spread throughout the body and are believed to be more numerous than those of any other receptor system.

With the ECS having a massive system of receptors in the body affecting almost every part of it, what does that mean for investing? There are currently many drugs being developed to taget the ECS and many more will likely be  developed to target the ECS as we move forward.

Think of the opioid/endorphin system and the amount of drugs and revenue derived from affecting that system.

Here is a chart showing annual written prescriptions in various drugs that the endocannabinoid system has an impact on. There is even a cannabinoid based MRSA drug being developed in clinical trials.

The field of drugs that will be developed for this system is just beginning.
